I have seen a few responses from doctors asked in magazines, usually you get a response from he wouldn't survive to maybe he would survive, I haven't seen a response saying that our medicine has advanced to a point where we could ensure his survival.
Dr. Thomas S. Scalea, a trauma doctor with the University of Maryland, described his response to this question a few times. He put it as, survival was not guaranteed but it was a reasonable expectation, and although Lincoln would have to undergo significant therapy to recover form this injury, his cognitive functions were still there.
Sorry, but your submission has been removed because we don't allow hypothetical questions. If possible, please feel free to rephrase the question so that it does not call for such speculation, and resubmit Otherwise, this sort of thing is better suited for /r/historicalwhatif.
