How was the European attitude towards aborigines and natives of Africa/ Southamerica and Southasia (especially East Indian Islands)

I should further explain my question. I am currently reading the diary/ jourmal of William Dampier.

"William Dampier (baptised 5 September 1651 – March 1715) was the first Englishman to explore parts of what is today Australia, and the first person to circumnavigate the world three times. He has also been described as Australia's first natural historian, as well as one of the most important British explorers of the period between Sir Walter Raleigh and James Cook." -wikipedia

As we have this topic in my history-seminar I like (and kind of have to) get new information on my own. Since all this is written in english i have a hard time getting new media.
I hope this isnt to bold to ask you if you know anything about it.
If you have questions feel free to message me or leave a comment.
