One of Cortés' officers, Pedro de Alvarado, is described as having either red, blonde, or reddish-blonde hair, with blue eyes being implied. He was given the Nahuatl nickname "Tonatiuh" (The Sun) at least partially on account of his fair appearance, but was otherwise not looked upon or treated any differently from any of the other Spanish captains. There was plenty of other weirdness to be processed at the time by both groups.
