I am in a play set in 1885. I play a Swiss mercenary fighting in the Serbo-Bulgarian War. He is a captain, upper class, and wealthy. I was wondering what sort of hair style I should wear. My director does want me to go clean shaven so I won't need to care about facial hair.
Thanks for the help!
Are you playing Captain Bluntschli?
Men (especially older than mid 20's) actually have some kind of facial hair, it can be the now cliche handlebar mustache or mutton chops on the sides for mid aged or older men. As for hair I would recommend grow out 3-5 inches long and part your hair on one side. If you are younger make the parting just slightly off center. Make a more extreme side parting if you are older and comb most of the hair to one side like a combover. Parting in the middle is also fine, especially if you have curly hair. If you want really authentic look buy a jar of greasier pomade (like Murray's hairdressing) and slick it on your hair so it looks shiny. Otherwise if you hate pomade hair gel will do, but it won't give the shiny effect.
