Today:
Welcome to this week's instalment of /r/AskHistorians' Day of Reflection. Nobody can read everything that appears here each day, so in this thread we invite you to share anything you'd like to highlight from the last week - an interesting discussion, an informative answer, an insightful question that was overlooked, or anything else.
I trolled through some of the threads that I liked this week and found some very nice answers.
Finally, if I can step outside the last week for a moment, I came across an old response from /u/Tiako that I had saved explaining that "History is written by writers." I thought this was a great response to the common saying "History is written by the winners," and I'm curious what others might think.
There was a really interesting topic about how Oregon changed from 1000bc to 1000ce.
I especially enjoyed LITERAL_OBJECT's post, which didn't get enough attention.
/u/BeondTheGrave gave a really excellent summary of Ulysses S. Grant's strategic mindset [here] (http://www.reddit.com/r/AskHistorians/comments/2sqnxz/was_ulysses_s_grant_as_strategically_and/cns4vgp)
