I've read that the King family worked to acquit the charges against James Earl Ray believing him to be innocent. Is this true? Was the government responsible for his death?
I don't think there exists a good answer to this question. No government (or other) agency has come forward to admit guilt. Ray was convicted, but denies responsibility as well.
