Sport and Recreation in the "Dark Ages"

by Nukethe_____

I've been taking a history of Sport class and my teacher last night said that "people didn't emphasis recreation, sport or physicality during the Dark Ages." I'm very skeptical of this statement, as I'm aware that the Dark Ages is an old misleading term. That being said, what evidence do we have for sports, games, or recreational activities during this peroid?

Edit: spelling; generally awful English grammar

I'm sure someone can confirm or delete this, but I do slightly recall in school discussions of mob football (soccer to the North Americans) happening regularly during the Dark Ages.

I do believe there is some documentation and stories of English Kings discussing rudimentary football and large scale games which eventually evolved into the modern game
