Susanna and the Elders by Artemisia Gentileschi - Restored X-Ray

Recently I stumbled uppon the x-ray of Susanna and the Elders by Arthemisia Gentileschi, but have been unable to find other "censorship" about this subject. I'm starting to believe it might be fake. Is there other historical art that was polemical at the time that had to be re-painted to fit the social mood, or is this painting a lonley example?

As it turns out, it's the x-ray that's fake.As detailed in this New York Times article, it's a modern artwork referencing Gentelleschi's painting done as part of a series of "contemporary updates" to famous works of art:
