Or maybe just cool strategies? No era/area in particular.

I just started really getting into history lately, I mean, ive always liked it with what few books I've read on hannibal and mongols and of course guns germs and steel. Not a big nonfiction guy.

Bigigger the better. I read books like weak jawed dogs chew bones.

*Oops, imeant 'warfare'

I'll throw out there, if you are interested in the evolution of professionalization and expertise over war experience in the American context, check out Sharon Ghamari-Tabrizi, The Worlds of Herman Kahn: The Intuitive Science of Thermonuclear War (Cambridge, MA: Harvard University Press, 2005).

(Sorry, mods - it's too good a book, and so often overlooked, that I couldn't help but push it when I saw an opportunity!!)

Sorry, we don't allow throughout history questions. These tend to produce threads which are collections of trivia, not the in-depth discussions about a particular topic we're looking for. If you have a specific question about a historical event or period or person, please feel free to re-compose your question and submit it again. Alternatively, questions of this type can be directed to more appropriate subreddits, such as /r/history or /r/askhistory.
