In the early 90s, members of the Norwegian black metal scene burned historic churches. The members of that scene held at the time Satanic beliefs and hated Christianity. Are there any documented cases in Europe's long history of the occult committing similar acts of domestic terrorism?

Members of that scene have since changed their beliefs but I was curious as to whether pagans or Satanists doing similar things in the past. Thanks.

Edit: Varg may not have been a Satanist but members of emperor, who were also convicted, were. Also, one of the founders of the scene, Euronymous, was as well. To argue that black metal did not have Satanism involved is not accurate. Also, if you read my original text, I include paganism which would also in this case, apply to Varg as well.

Varg, who has revised his views and history frequently, was not and is not the sole member of the black metal scene.

Mayhem, Emperor, and other bands from that time were definitely had Satanic elements.

To those entering this thread: Please note that OP is asking for examples in Europe that are similar to the Norwegian example given in the title. This thread is not about Varg Vikernes or his actions. Thank you.

It's also, from my understanding, that churches were burned because of the belief that they were built upon sacred Viking sites. It's actually really interesting stuff and there are some decent documentaries and books on black metal.

If burning Christian churches would be a Satanist thing, surely those events in Norway would not be the only case.
It is not at all obvious that the church burnings were a result of Satanism.
