Can someone tell me what CPL. BTRY E. / 105 FA 27 DIV means? I'm assuming these are batteries or divisions? Googling "105 FA 27 DIV" didn't help me, nor did Googling "CPL. BTRY E.".
Corporal (his rank) Battery E, 105th Field Artillery, 27th [Infantry] Division
As a guess: He was a Corporal in battery E of the 105th Field Artillery Battalion, 27th Division.
