Many Jews tried to return to their homes only to find that they were now inhabited by German families. Many people no longer felt any sort of connection to their lives which they had before the war. They found themselves in refugee camps in the exact same location as the Nazi Labor camps, only now these camps were under better conditions as they were run by western powers or the red cross. Many survivors had to make new lives as many moved to the newly formed Israel, or came to America.
