Apologies if book recommendation-type submissions are prohibited, but I read nothing explicitly doing so.
I'm curious about whether books exist documenting rebellion(s). I just finished the TV series Spartacus and delighted in reading about the Third Servile War afterwards. I am very interested in anarchist rebellions, and recently heard the country in which I live - Ireland - described as one of rebellion (county Cork, specifically). About these three, - slave, anarchist and Irish rebellion(s) - I would love to learn more, as I would about all rebellion(s). Please, therefore, recommend me those books documenting them with which you are familiar.
Again, if submissions of this nature do not belong, please suggest an alternative! Thanks in advance.
I can give you a couple of recommendations regarding Ireland and anarchist rebellion.
Regarding Cork, I've heard that Peter Hart's The IRA and its Enemies: Violence and Community in Cork, 1916-1923 is one of the best books on the IRA, although some of its arguments are somewhat controversial.
For anarchist rebellion, I think the most enjoyable book that is still academically thorough is John Merriman's The Dynamite Club: How a Bombing in Fin-de-Siecle Paris Ignited the Modern Age of Terror.
