World overview by time (e.g by century)?

Hi guys and girls,

I'm thinking this is a long shot, but I'll give it a go nevertheless.

Do any of you know of an information source where I can get an overview of how the world looked during a specific period in time e.g the 9th century. We're talking religions, technology, architecture etc. for different countries, empires or continents.

Any help would be awesome :-)

Wikipedia can provide a decent overview like this.

You can go century-by-century or even decade-by-decade - just search '9th century' or '850s' (or whatever century/decade you want to start at) and then progress through the sidebar to the next century/decade.
