How accurate is History Channel's "Sons of Liberty"?

by DatBokehDoe

I just got done watching the show.

For example: I saw absolutely no mention of the French support and I know they played a much larger role than we are taught in American schools.

I'd like to hear about anything questionable or inaccuracies from those of you that watched the show.

Thanks!

This article goes in depth

It explains that Sons of Liberty “is a dramatic interpretation of events that sparked a revolution. It is historical fiction, not a documentary.”

The article is split by episode, so it is very organized, and points out inaccuracies, such as:

  • The producers went with a younger look for Samuel Adams in 1765; in real life, at that time, he was 43.

As well as accuracies, such as:

  • they actually included variations in the colors of the British soldiers’ uniforms (not all of the red coats have buff lapels, cuff and collars; some have yellow and some blue)!

This article should give you a fairly good idea of both the good and the bad about this series.
