What kind of information do we have in archives regarding aboriginal use in the Canadian Rockies?

by Oh_so_random

I have been reading up on the documented historical use of the Canadian Rockies as a matter of interest. I have been reading some books by aboriginal authors as well as by early explorers with their the Hudson's Bay Company or independent explorers such as Mary Schaffer, Dr. James Hector, Fred Brewster, etc.

And I came across the name of Henry Macleod who was a surveyor with the Canadian Pacific Railway. Apparently, he kept journals. But I haven't been able to track down a copy anywhere.

I was hoping someone here would know of any museum archives that might house these or other such journals. Thank you!!

Hey there! Just wanted you to know I spent some time looking for Henry MacLeod's journals in the usual places (WorldCat with the archives setting, and ArchiveGrid) and couldn't find anything. Darned obscure topic you've got here apparently...
