Removing glue from military service medals/badges?

by a051

Hi there, I asked over at /r/DIY but thought I may be able to ask here too so apologies if this is the wrong place.

My grandfather has given my brother and I what remains of his military badges/medals from years ago.

We were told that my uncle glued them to something in a case for nice presentation.

They have been removed from whatever they were glued to but some glue/felt stuff remains, do any of you know the best way to remove it obviously without damaging them?

I took a picture of the front of one of the badges to show the sort of fabric they have on the front.

For the medals you can have the ribbons replaced completely as it is the metal part which is important. Any military tailor (such as The Mess Dress, others are available!) will be able to give you some advice. They are also specialists who will be able to mount the medals and badges in a display case for you if you'd like, but without the glue this time!
