To clarify, I basically don't know anything about Israels history, the conflict with Palestine and the religios background.
From easy to understand books to online sources. What can I read/ watch to not look like an idiot ?
Edit: Also, history about Iran and the surrounding contries are appreciated.

Edit: I realized that there isn't a book that deals specifically with Israel beyond the Arab-Israeli conflict in that link. For Israeli history, I would suggest Colin Shindler's A History of Modern Israel
"The Middle East For Dummies" is actually a pretty good overview.
