There are too many examples of anti-semitism for me to even begin posting examples. As a historian, I'm sure you are aware of plenty yourself. My question is why? Where did the hate for jews begin?
hi! not discouraging other responses, but fyi, there are several posts on this topic in the FAQ
It's a tough question to answer. The reasons have changed over the course of History but in general it's due to their unwillingness to integrate and lack of a national identity (until the 20th century). This meant they would always be living in an area with customs that are not always compatible with their own.
A very good book that addresses this issue, among many others is The Jews, God and History by Max I. Dimont. One point he makes is how Jews could always avoid this hatred by abandoning their religion and ways and integrating (i.e. the hatred was directed towards the Jewish religion and culture), until the Holocaust where the concept of Jewish Ethnicity was introduced and anyone with Jewish roots was a target. Something still encountered today unfortunately.
