In the event of a NATO vs Warsaw Pact war, did the Soviet leadership plan to include the National People's Army of East Germany in the battle, or were they considered unreliable?

Did Soviet high command trust the East German army to fight other Germans? Was their primary role a reserve force?

While I don't know about actual plans there was no distrust between the governments. The GDR could actually be seen like one of the more loyal governments to the Soviet Union.
