I'm not sure the exact logistics of the scheme, but the Allies had left wooden tanks and the like along the coast line at Dover, leading the German's to think that the invasion would happen there. Alas, they did realise, but we launched before they could move their armoured divisions from the north slightly south. Also, straight after D-Day there was a storm. The Germans thought that we wouldn't risk an invasion of choppy seas and without men dropped behind the line. But, we did. The day before the storm was 6th June and we fucking launched and mugged them off.
