I hope this is the appropriate group to ask this question: What's a good introduction to read on the Civil War? I want to read more on the Civil War this year. I would also like to know what are some of your favorite works too. Thank you!
The authoritative work is (and has been for almost 30 years) James McPherson's Battle Cry of Freedom. It's long, but excellent. Well worth your time.
What Civil War are you asking about? :)
I don't know what you mean by introduction exactly, but Bruce Catton's Civil War trilogy is most excellent.
