Women's fashion of ancient Japan?

by bowie_fan

I'm doing a photo project recreating the tale of the bamboo cutter (aka Kaguya-hime).

I was wondering if you guys would know or be able to provide some insight regarding wardrobe, make up, and hair of that time for both court ladies and regular women.

Visual resources would be fantastic!

(thanks in advance)

Depending on how period you want to get, this site seems to offer some useful insight into the differences of how clothes were worn then, compared to how we think they were worn now: http://www.reconstructinghistory.com/articles/japanese-articles/then-and-now-common-mistakes-in-japanese-historical-clothing.html

Tale of the bamboo cutter is ca. tenth century, so keeping it close to that in fashion would seem most authentic.
