I have been interested in the real genghis khan and his differences from the monster that is pop culture Genghis Khan.
I would like nonfiction by a historian of course, but I got an audiobook "Genghis" by Conn Iggulden. Only listened to the beginning. Is it any good? Litterally all I know about this fella is that he born Temujin. Trying to be more educated in Eastern History! Thank you for spending time to read this, btw.
Please everyone, Dan Carlin is not accepted as a source in this subreddit nor is OP looking for nonfiction by a self-proclaimed entertainer. He is looking for actual historical (audio)book by a historian.
"Genghis Khan and the Making of the Modern World" by Jack Weatherford is not a bad start. It's my only book on the Mongols, and while it seems to have gotten just okay reviews here on the subreddit, I'm fond of it. If you can find an audiobook copy, I'd say it's good primer material before you dig into anything meatier.
While I can recommend a fair number of books on the subject I'm afraid I don't think any are available in audiobook format. Is that ok?
