In this poster from 1943 there is a "Reichsraum",where the Germans lives, and a "Vorraum", where there are the industries. Apart from the border control, what was the role of the "Vorraum" and was it a popular opinion during the "Third Reich" I never saw something like this before.
I am no historian, but I do speak German.
It says "Vorfeld" not Vorraum, Vorfeld has two definitions. Vorraum would be translated as "anteroom" btw.
in every day speech it means a timely span, between now and some event happening.
in Military jargon, it just is the name for the terrain in front of enemy lines.
And well, yes, expainsion was the whole idea of the war.
It most likely means that the Reichsraum is the area where pretty much exclusively Germans would live. As this includes Poland and probably parts of Russia (as well as Czechoslovakia) it would mean that the local population will be assimilated, exiled or killed. The land would be given to German farmers.
The Vorfeld would still be under German control, but run by the local population, with the Germans collecting food, resources and goods. Basically a giant colony, for the sake of German supremacy.
A quote stolen from a recent post: “German planners envisioned the European lands of the Soviet Union as a colony, where German settlers would farm fields with the assistance of their Slavic slaves.” (Timothy Snyder, “Stalin and Europe: Imitation and Domination, 1928-1953,” Oxford University Press, 2014)"
Also the rest of the population would probably left for starvation, as the infamous hunger plan outlined.
