Most ancient Indian texts describe wars fought on chariots, so I am guessing that they must have been a popular war machine once upon a time. What events/developments replaced warriors on chariots to archers on horseback? How it actually happened?
I am an absolute beginner in history so I don't really know if it is a silly question, but this really made me curious and I didn't find a convincing explanation online.
