What civil war relatively recent books specifically focusing on the Confederacy would you recommend? Any books will do, I'm not looking for any specific topic, but I'd rather the books not be pro-confederate.
A Shattered Nation: The Rise and Fall of the Confederacy by Anne Sarah Rubin (2005) The Confederate War by Gary Gallagher (1998) A lot of recent scholarship that I know of focuses on individual generals, Lincoln, or Reconstruction.
What specifically about the Confederacy are you looking for?
