Considering the number of European given names that exist that reference Jesus Christ (Jesus in Spanish-speaking cultures, Christopher*, Christos, etc elsewhere), it seems like it probably wasn't.
That said, this is clearly something that is more granular than "medieval Europe". For instance Anglo-American Christians in modern times find it odd, whereas Latin-American Christians (also in modern times) find it completely normal. Naming traditions are way more complicated than an entire continent of people across a span of a thousand years.
*Yes, Christopher comes from St. Christopher and not Christ directly, but the existence of St. Christopher implies that someone thought it was OK to bestow the name "Christ-bearer" on someone, and then more people thought it was an OK thing to name their children.
