I recently was purchased what looks like a Czech war medal by my mother while she traveling in Europe. I can't really find anything on it and I feel like there is a story behind it.

Here are some pictures. There are some pins that came with it. http://imgur.com/a/DGIsx

this is what I could find: link

Summary:

They were a Czechoslovakian "road battalion." Engineers that build bridges and roads. From the pictures, they are military. There are photos of pontoon bridges, tanks, etc.

The article has some pictures and mentions the battalion was in two places: Ružomberok, Slovakia. Small town.

Also Znojmo. A southern Moravian town that goes way back.

Anywho, so the big medal in your picture says "15 years" (15 let), so it's a 15 commemorative medal of that VÚ-8927 from the town of Hodonìn, a military engineer "road battalion".
