Modern ships have all the food, non alcoholic drinks, etc. included. I'm watching Titanic on TV and you don't see anyone paying for anything. Did old ships include a basic level of food with the ticket? How did it work? Just curious!
Yes food was included with all the classes tickets. This was relatively new at the time as until just before the Titanic third class passengers would have been expected to bring food for the voyage. First class passengers who wanted something extra special could pay extra and eat A la carte in the Ritz on B deck. Now this was very expensive to the point where even the wealthy felt the need to mention it like Lady Duff Gordon who talked about the wonderful food she ate there.
Now here is a quick link that has some menus for first, second and third class. http://www.theinitialjourney.com/lifeissues/life_titanicfood.html
