So the kids are watching Peabody & Sherman movie, and they wanted to know. From what I read online they would wear false beards for ceremonial reasons. If they were clean shaving how did it stay on. Was it a chin strap? Or glue?
Most artwork shows that they were attached using ribbons or bands, going up around the ear or connecting to the traditional nemes headdress. You can see this particularly well on these specimens from the Rijksmeseum and the Vienna Museum of Fine Arts.
