I have identified a lot of good books on America from 1765 or so through the revolution but have not found any about the roots of the revolution from around 1700 to 1760. By the word popular I mean high-school level or lower-division college level.
Do you know of any such books?
If you haven't already read "The Unredeemed Captive" give that a look. It mostly has to do with Colonial British/French and Native relations but it also goes on a few tangents that are pretty illuminating as far as the whys and hows of some aspects of the revolution. It also helps paint out the pre-revolution social situation pretty well.
