I have to agree with u/Bernardito, books from your library are going to be your best resources and that list is amazing. When you get to the Civil War, there are tons of documentaries to reinforce what you have learned. Here is my favorite: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Civil_War_(TV_series)
I'd say Eric Foner's Give Me Liberty! is the go-to book for American History. I own the 2006 Seagull Edition, and I highly recommend it.
