To what extent did the US succeed in achieving these objectives by the end of the war? I have a basic understanding of what caused the US to enter the war (Germany's policy of unrestricted submarine warfare, protecting the US's profitable arms trade with the allies, etc.) but is it really as basic as that? Answer and explanations are greatly appreciated.
From Wilson's point of view - 1)Make the world safe for democracy (self-determination) and 2) Fight a war to end all wars (and thus establish a League of Nations). From a business point of view - guarantee profit for munitions industries.
