When businesses and manufacturing were selling off in the northeast and sending their operations to cheaper locations overseas, how much money were average business owners really making/saving by offshoring?

OP, this sub's 20-year-rule may be more restrictive than you'd like, given that (I believe) large-scale offshoring is a fairly recent phenomenon. In that case, you might consider x-posting to a sub that specializes in economics/business.
