It's well known that the Romans heavily discriminated against Christians. Was this the same for all non-state religious groups?

Which is to say, were all religions not officially sanctioned by the state treated as badly as Christianity was? And follow-up question, was Christianity treated as badly as is commonly assumed for the 300 some-odd years it remained a minority religion in Rome?
