Very much in the opposite direction, the Ottomans got involved with the axis powers to fight Russia to regain land lost in war with Russia where Georgia/Armenia is today.

Remember this was in August 1914 when a quick war was expected, the Ottoman's hoped to retake territory while Russia was distracted in Europe.

However as the British fired that the Ottomans would advance south and cut off India and so the war expanded.
