As far as my research has come. No one really knows, this might be because General's don't want to document about what they did after they woke up in the morning before having breakfast. They want to write about their heroic conquests so they can earn gravitas amongst the populace and support in the senate. Marius wasn't concerned that people in Rome didn't know what he ate for breakfast, neither did Caesar, Augustus, Africanus etc.
