It's not devoted to history but since 1868 "Whitaker's Almanack" has been published annually . Part of its content is descriptions of events in the previous year or "recent history".
You might consider the huge "last year" section in The World Almanac. It began publication in 1868 as the almanac of the New York World, and continues today as the "World Almanac" of the New York Times. Compiling important events all year is kind of busy-work for interns. I have some WWII editions that give details you can't find elsewhere for army movements.
