Goldhagen's books have received criticism in regards to factual accuracy and confirmation bias. He disregarded facts that didn't jive with his hypothesis that Germany had a special kind of anti-semitism throughout its history. One reviewer pointed out that his assertion that a Nazi unit in Poland that went after Jews avoided Polish Catholics was ignoring that the unit committed a massacre of Polish Catholic women.
