There's no shortage of sources regarding Hitler's use of pharmaceuticals, by the end he was a poster child of amphetamine psychosis. Does anyone know how the man got started up?
Hitler was a lifelong hypochondriac - it stemmed from his stomach problems as a child which is best characterised now as IBS. He used to take various remedies in the hope for curing his stomach issues. Injuries caused by the war increased his hyperawareness of his body and his physician, Morell, didn't help matters. Morell was quite liberal in his choice of pharmaceuticals and wasn't shy in giving Hitler things like barbiturates *as well as meth. Hitler was probably prescribed around 90 different drugs in total and the ample amount of meth probably played a part in bringing on his Parkinson's.
While Morell had the reputation for being a fairly unorthodox physician, it's not clear whether the treatment Hitler received under his care was Morell's idea or Hitler's. It's likely to be both.
