Did they believe that they would just crash into China and there was nothing in between them except for a massive ocean? What about Sea Monsters, I know that they were mainly just a tale to spook explorers but are there any reports of sailors encountering HUGE fish or things they had no idea what to think of? Did they truly have absolutly no idea that there was something between them and Asia across the Atlantic, or did they assume that they were going to at least find a chain of islands or something?
