I am interning as a docent at an old Victorian house. We have mannequins in different rooms in different clothing of the period that serve for different purposes, either as a theme for the room or for the season etc. We switched some out today to be sort of a spring time theme and one of them has a colorful spring time looking kimono. I notice on it there is a mon on the sleeve and the back under the neck. Myself and our textiles person know what it is, but neither of us know anything past that. I was just wondering if anyone here had any knowledge of the family it belonged to or anything like that.

Not sure how much you know so forgive me if I'm repeating anything. The mon in question is depicting crossed feathers. The name of the mon is maruni chigai taka no ha (丸に違い鷹の羽), which is really just a description of it as "encircled crossed hawk/eagle feathers". It's one of many different mon depicting crossed feathers (collectively taka no ha たかのは). Other examples can be seen here and here.
As for who used this particular mon, you can take a look at this page which lists various warlords and their corresponding feathered mon. Some examples are Utagawa Kuniyoshi (歌川国芳), Abe Masahiro (阿部正弘) and Gotō Seitarō (五島清太郎). As you can see they don't have a common surname. That said, my understanding is that the mon is most typically linked with the Takagi (たかぎ, 高木) family, and it's possible the above few people have a common link there.
Still doesn't really narrow it down too much. But I hope that at least points your in the right direction. I used to have a lot of information I'd gathered over the years on mon just as a hobbyist, but unfortunately don't have access to it at the moment, and thus can't really offer you much more.
