What was the government, economy, and society like in colonial America? And why did the colonies end up having a conflict with Great Britain? Finally, what was the straw that broke the camels back for America to break its relationship with Great Britain?

Part of the major problem was that Englishmen in the British colonies felt that they were British citizens with the rights of Englishmen, and someplace along the line they were became colonists without a voice in Parliament, and eventually without the rights of Englishmen.

While the details of this are complex, and compounded over time, eventually Englishmen in the British colonies started to identify themselves as separate from Britain.
