Some cursory looking up of him seems to suggest he is an archaeologist with an interest in the visual arts; that he is cited in various places as a translator of archaeological reports and is listed as having published at least one article on the archaeology of Jerusalem. Note also however that the article is addressed to both archaeologists and art historians; it was published in Muqarnas, which is a journal of Islamic art.
