How did the Orthodox Priesthood view the scientific and cultural advances of the European Renaissance?

I can describe russian ortodox opinions only. Generally, Ortodox Priesthood opposes humanism, due to its secular nature. But the russian clergy isn't educated and intersted in history enough to blame the Reneissanse. An average russian priest doesn't conceive the Reneissance clearly. The main aim of russian orthodoxal anger is contemporary western ideas, without deep investigation of its roots.
