I found this symbol online and I thought it was a neat way of representing infinity. However, it seems like it would have some other historical meaning that I'm not aware of (kind of how the Nazi's changed the swastika to be a symbol of hatred instead of the peace it used to represent). Does anyone know, by chance?
[Also if this is the wrong sub for this question, please let me know a better sub]
It's used in Scandinavian counties to denote places of cultural significance.
It's also the symbol on the command key of a MacBook.
Not a historian or anything. But I found there's Wikipedia entries: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Looped_square http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bowen_knot
