I posted a similar question some weeks ago. I distinctly remember hearing that there's such a thing as the Hostory of human sexuality, albeit not a major academic sub-discipline, I guess. Is there? And if there is, does anyone have any good tips on books. Oh, and why do I ask? Well, it just seems quite random and fun.
The history of sexuality is a huge field, yes. There is a Journal of the History of Sexuality, and there have been many works published in this area. I am most familiar with the subject in terms of American history, but some of the most notable works there are things like John D'Emilio and Estelle Freedman's Intimate Matters and George Chauncey's Gay New York.
