I was wondering about how birth was handled back before we had any medical technology. In particular what did cavemen do with the umbilical cord. Did they cut it off? Did it fall of naturally? Did they have belly buttons?
hi! you might consider x-posting this question to /r/AskAnthropology, since 'cavemen' are most definitely pre-history, but do consider that cavemen didn't leave written records and one would need some pretty well-preserved remains in order to make out the individual's belly button.
