Just in case we're about to go down that road, here's the FAQ on Slavery vs Indenture and "Irish Slavery".
I have read that there were enslaved American Indians, is this inaccurate?
Because slaves were so often subject to rape by their masters, it was possible for some descendants of slaves to pass as white, and it was therefore possible for anyone, of any race, to be sold into slavery due to made up accusations about their ancestry. Sally Muller is one example. She was a German immigrant who was kidnapped at a young age and sold into slavery. In the legal battle for Muller's freedom, the defense tried to prove that her mother had been a slave, but they couldn't.
